Library in Second Grade
ROYAL READERS
Every week I like to pick a second grade student to read to the class. Students will be asked to select a book from home, the library or classroom. I urge the students to spend some time practicing and reading the book the week before. I believe this helps relieve some of the stress in reading
aloud, boosts confidence and enables the reader to enjoy the experience and take their time.
When the student finishes their book we have a special question and comment time. This is a great chance for listeners to ask questions and make nice comments to the reader. Students reading aloud will receive a Dr. Seuss crown, a bookmark, a special certificate and will have their "Royal" picture placed
on the Royal Readers bulletin board.
